Welcome to Mephibosheth Ministries!

Welcome to our website! Mephibosheth Ministries is a vibrant, growing ministry located in Cicero, IN. We serve individuals who have disabilities from all over central Indiana. Our core ministries include:

  
   
Friends Unlimited -- a Tuesday night Bible Fellowship. Meets at Cicero Christian Church at 6:30 pm.
The Way adult day program -- meets Mondays and Thursdays from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm at Cicero Christian Church.
Camp Mephibosheth -- summer overnight and day camp at Rainbow Christian Camp in Converse, IN. 2009 dates are July 25-July 31.
Residential Program -- we are in the program development phase of an independent and semi-independent residential program. Duplexs for this program were purchased in January, 2008.

 

Steps Toward A Residential Program

God has been doing some amazing things for Mephibosheth as we sought His will and direction for the mission over the past year.  He has opened the doors for us to begin pursuing the development of an independent/semi-independent living program for the individuals we serve.

Several years ago, we recieved a gift of 30,000 for residential development.  This program is one that we had on our initial goals and objectives when we formed the mission of Mephibosheth in 2001. It was discerned at a strategic planning session the board conducted in November 2007 that God could use the residential program as a stepping stone to the Community Building (our BIG DREAM which we are not giving up on...just waiting for His perfect timing). We were able to locate 3 duplex units in Cicero and by God's might hand we closed on the property January 3rd!  We are buying on land contract and have a 5 year balloon payment, but desire to be mortgage free with in 2 years! We do not want to be in debt, but be able to do more for the Lord. We committed this to Him and knew that the only way we could accomplish this was if He walked ahead, preparing the way! We have 5 renters at the present time with one opening (575 per month).  By having the units currently leased we are given the opportunity to implement our residential program at our own pace. Our primary focus over the first year will be to raise the money to pay off the units so the rent collected will go into the residential program rather than paying our mortgage.

Please bathe this project in prayer. If you should know of anyone looking to rent, let them know about our opening. For the first time Mephibosheth will be able to be outside of the church walls, reaching into the community...sound familiar?  Reach, Teach, & Serve.  Watch for ways you can join with us......you won't have to travel far to take part in a mission trip!

Mephibosheth Mission Statement

To empower individuals who have disabilities and their families to live in their community by meeting their spiritual, emotional and physical needs.

That all people are made in God's image in order to serve Him in all arenas of life.

That human life has become broken through sin, and one of sin's consequences is suffering.

That Christ bears our grief, carries our sorrows, and heals our brokenness in body and spirit.

That in order to live fully, now and forever, we must have a personal faith in Jesus as Savior.

That we are called to personal salvation and a life of thankful and obedient response

 

Our confession has at least the following implications:

Christ clearly teaches the sanctity of life, no matter how severe the disabling condition.

Christ's example and the law of love demand that we compassionately respond to the needs of persons who have disabilities and to their families; we must walk together in our suffering.

We must remove any architectural, attitudinal or communication barriers that impede the message of salvation or hinder the participation of any person in the life of the church.

We must enable the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of all persons so they may respond obediently to God's call of discipleship.

We must make public the gifts of people whom society defines as disabled, so they may participate mutually in our interdependent family.
